Hey! Check out tonight’s opening party for the “Never Ending Story” exhibit at Royal/T. Work by world-renowned artists such as Cindy Sherman, Yayoi Kusama, Louise Bourgeois and Seonna Hong explores the notions of fairy tales, fantasy and obsession. Tonight’s opening festivities are “Alice in Wonderland” themed with “Eat me” cupcakes, gift bags, DJs, absinthe cocktails, a jewelry trunk show by Kimora Lee Simmons and fashions by Jared Gold.
My friend Jessica showed me this ad for Pajama Jeans (Pajamas to live in. Jeans to sleep in). I’m not sure if the idea is genius or ridiculous…or a little bit of both. I’m usually a sucker for all things “as seen on tv”….so who knows. I may just try ‘em out…just because you’re busy doesn’t mean you can’t look sharp. bahahahaaaa
Zooey Deschanel will soon star as the title character in a pilot for HBO’s upcoming dramedy I’m With the Band: Confessions of a Groupie. The series will be based on the 1987 memoir of the same name by former groupie Pamela Des Barres, with Deschanel playing the role of the author. A portion of her story was told in the Cameron Crowe film Almost Famous, but the series will go deeper than what was covered. Favorite actress. Favorite station. Favorite movie. Can’t go wrong here!
Check out Daniel Johnston’s exhibition of drawings, Dead Lovers Twisted Hearts, at the Monster Children Gallery. Johnston will be at the opening and will play several songs. Amaze.
Congratulations are in order for our favorite actress and designer Chloë Sevigny, who triumphed at the Golden Globes last night despite dress rip and name misspelling (an usher stepped on Sevigny’s strapless dress as she went to accept her award AND to make matters worse, her name was spelled incorrectly on the screen: Chloi Sevigny). Nonetheless, Sevigny finally received her first Golden Globe for her portrayal as a Mormon fundamentalist polygamist on Big Love. In our opinion, Sevigny also deserves the award for “best dressed,” looking stunning in a ruffled Valentino.
Check out MAC Cosmetics new collection, Liberty of London, on sale March 10th….”creating cool Britannia compacts and Lipsticks, Eye Shadows, Powder, Blush, Nail Lacquers and, of course – blushing, bountiful, quite British accessories.” Can’t wait to get my hands on some of these products!
If like me, you missed the Green Day musical during its stint at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre, don’t fret…the production is heading straight to Broadway!! With the director behind Spring Awakening, it’s soon to debut a musical based on the band’s 2004 punk epic American Idiot. “Packed with Tony-winning talent and possessing a ready-made fan base, the high-profile production is a marketing slam-dunk with blockbuster potential.”
